A complete guide to Hoi An! A thorough introduction to tourist attractions and exquisite local cuisine!
Have you heard of the place name “Hoi An”?
Hoi An (Hoi An) is a city located in central Vietnam called Quang Nam (Quang Nam) province.
Hoi An is a world-famous tourist destination. This is because Hoi An Old Town itself has been registered as a World Heritage Site, and many foreign tourists visit it every day.
The Lantern Festival is famous, and it is full of tourists visiting Hoi An to enjoy the colorful and beautiful lantern scenery and delicious local food.
Here are some recommended tourist spots and delicious local food in Hoi An.
How to get to Hoi An
First, how do I get to Hoi An?
There is no airport in the immediate vicinity of Hoi An, so you will need to travel from the airport in nearby “Danang (Danang)”.
Danang is also a tourist city famous for its resorts in central Vietnam, and is home to the “Danang International Airport.”
There are flights from all over the world, and of course there are many domestic flights, so it is also possible to get there by traveling from another major Vietnamese city such as Ho Chi Minh or Hanoi.
It's so close that you can drive from Danang to Hoi An in about 40 minutes, so I recommend enjoying sightseeing in both Danang and Hoi An!
We recommend taking a taxi from Danang to Hoi An
There are plenty of taxis in Danang.
The recommendation is to use a ride-hailing app called “Grab (Grab)” to enter a destination such as “Hoi An Old Town (Hoi An Old Town)” or the hotel where you are staying, and have a driver pick you up.
The average price is 300,000 to 400,000 dong one way.
Also, you'll be calling a driver with Grab, and when you're in a car, you'll often be asked, “Have you decided on a taxi for the way home yet?” I'm asked.
In order to secure passengers, I think the driver also wants to obtain reservations for the return of passengers in advance.
I recommend comparing it with calling Grab again from Hoi An to Danang Airport, but the price of the set is sometimes slightly cheaper due to the round trip shown to the flight driver.
Hoi An doesn't have as many taxis as Danang, soIf you don't mind exchanging contact information with the driver, they will pick you up at the designated time and place, so I recommend reserving a taxi for the return trip.
Let's enjoy the streets of Hoi An Old Town!
What an impression you will be when you arrive in Hoi An Old Town! The streets of Hoi An are full of cute yellow buildings! So cute!
The typical Hoi An cityscape spreads everywhere.
The old town is very compact in size, and you can walk all the way around.
Even if you take a detour for shopping or eating, etc., you can see everything in half a day.
How to get around in Hoi An
There are many facilities that rent bicycles for free at dormitories and hotels in Hoi An, so check in at the hotelWe also recommend renting a bicycle to explore the city.
It's maneuverable, and you can go around efficiently on a bicycle.
Recommended Attractions in Hoi An
It's a compact old town that you can go around by bicycle, but there are plenty of spots where you can enjoy beautiful scenery.
Here are some recommended spots!
Raito Bridge (Nihonbashi)
Unfortunately, the Raion Bridge (Nihonbashi) is currently under construction, but it was very beautiful.
It is said to be a symbol of Hoi An, and is so famous that it is depicted on Vietnam's 20,000 dong bill.
Hoi An flourished as a trading port in the 16th century, and Japanese people also lived there.
The bridge that is said to have been built by Japanese people who lived in Hoi An is this “Nihonbashi.”
The lanterns hanging on the bridge are called “Hoi An” in Japanese (katakana), and I was very surprised when I first saw them.
Hokkien Hall
This is the Fujian Hall, a temple built by a Chinese merchant from Fujian Province in the 17th century.
There is something remarkable about the beauty of the exterior, so much so that if you visit the vicinity of the Hokkien Hall, you will unexpectedly stare at it.
It has a very luxurious entrance. There are also large Chinese incense sticks.
Pay the ticket fee and anyone can enter, so be sure to visit.

Joon Sing Go (Kuantan House)
There is also a building called “Quan Thanh House” in Hoi An's old town.
It's one of Hoi An's old traditional houses, and you can feel the history.
You can visit the first floor of Kuantan's house and enjoy Hoi An's specialty “white rose.”
White roses are steamed gyoza with surimi shrimp, and they are very easy to eat and delicious with little habit. There is also a mixed noodle called “khao lau,” which is eaten by putting vegetables or pork on top of a thick noodle and mixing a sweet and salty sauce.
It is also said that it was modeled after Japanese Ise udon. This is also very delicious.
It's a valuable opportunity to eat a famous local menu in a splendid historic building, so be sure to try it out!

I also recommend the Hoi An Night Market!
In Hoi An Old Town, there is a night market every night. Stalls selling many delicious local foods, miscellaneous goods, bags, etc. are lined up, and it is crowded with many people.
Recommended gourmet “fresh spring rolls” in Hoi An
We especially recommend “fresh spring rolls,” which are a staple Vietnamese local food.
It's hard to experience a fresh spring roll wrapped with large shrimp in this town, which is very crowded with locals and tourists, and has beautiful lanterns.
Hoi An's seafood cuisine is also a must-see!
There are also many other seafood menus, such as grilled squid.
I had the thick squid grilled and cut it into bite-sized pieces.
Hoi An's recommended sweet “crepe”
There are several stalls in Hoi An's market that will bake crepes on the spot.
You don't often see them in other cities, so it's probably a local sweet unique to Hoi An.
The yellow dough is so beautiful, how can I bake it so beautifully? I'm surprised every time (laughs)
You can choose toppings such as Nutella, banana, mango, coconut, etc.
Please enjoy watching Auntie's hand work making crepes up close!

Furthermore, the herb bag uses 100% natural materials such as precious Vietnamese herbs, fresh ginger, hot stones made from volcanic stones, and lotions made from various flowers.
Danang/ “Moringa Spa”
Located right next to Danang's beach, Moringa Spa is a clean spa that has just opened.
In addition to famous massages using several types of organic essential oils, dry massages are also a must-see for massage beginners.
